Shambala Christmas News Flash
December 2006

Dear Friends of Shambala,

On behalf of all the Shambala Family, we wish you a peaceful and harmonious Christmas time and a very happy and successful New Year. May the new year bring true inner peace and happiness for yourself and all living beings throughout space!

We would also like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your continued support in building and growing Shambala Retreat Centre. These first 8 months have been both, very successful and very challenging for all of us. We all worked very hard and have achieved a lot, and the feedback from our guests and visitors has been overwhelmingly positive. There have been many stories of people receiving profound healing and inner peace during their stay with us.

Appeal for Help

We have been struggling to pay all the bills during the past two months and we are relying on receiving donations and interest free loans to see us through the first winter. As you may remember, we had to take out a substantial private loan (1.4 Million Pounds!) to be able to purchase the house in the first place, and we are committed to pay £6,000 of interest every month to our lender.

Please contact us if you are able to offer us any kind of financial assistance to help us continue our work at the centre for the benefit of all living beings.

New Year Retreat

Our New Year Retreat "The Healing Power of the Mind" with Dekyi Lee Oldershaw from 29 December 2006 to 4 January 2007 is almost fully booked and we are all looking forward to having the energy of this special retreat back at the Centre for the second time. It is not too late to book for this retreat, either residential or non-residential. So please get in touch with us right away if you feel called to join.

People News

Venerable Angie has been away on a well-deserved holiday/retreat to Nepal and India for the past month, and we are all very happy to have her wonderful energy back in the house.

Patricia McCusker, who was holding the housekeeping area at Shambala, has recently left Shambala after 3 months of service. We are very grateful for her good work and we wish her all the best on her next steps in life.

We've also enjoyed the help of some wonderful short and medium term work exchange people here at Shambala. Paul Hicks has been with us since mid November and he intends to stay until the end of January 2007. Bekki Soos, who has been a regular Shambala visitor and a participant in our events in recent years, joined the family in early December, and she too is planning to help out until the end of January. Laura Brickell arrived just before Christmas and will stay with us for three weeks to help us during the busy Christmas and New Year period.

Shambala Goes Fully Organic!

It is our great pleasure to announce that we are in the process of converting our kitchen into a fully organic place with certification. This means that all food served at Shambala will be made from the best quality organic ingredients available, and we will use local organic produce whenever possible. As a result Shambala Retreat Centre will be one of the very few places in Britain offering this unique service. Come and sample our amazing food!

Going fully organic also means that the costs for our meals have gone up, so we will be increasing our meal prices from the 1st of January 2007. In fact, we have been receiving regular feedback from our guests that our meals are underpriced, so the new prices will be a more accurate reflection of the quality of our meals, while still representing excellent value for money:

Organic two course lunch (main course and dessert): £10.00
Organic light dinner, consisting of soup, salads and bread: £7.00
