In
Buddhism, emptiness does not mean the absence of any existence.
Emptiness is not like a black hole, darkness or an empty house.
Emptiness is fullness and openness and flexibility. Because of
emptiness it is possible for phenomena to function, for beings to see
and hear, and for things to move and change. It is called emptiness
because when we examine things we cannot find anything that
substantially and solidly exists. Everything we perceive appears
through ever-changing causes and conditions, without an independent,
solid basis. All appearances are like water bubbles or the reflection
of the moon in water....
Explore more deeply the meaning and experience of emptiness with
teachings, discussion and meditation led by Venerable Nyingje
This retreat is also an excellent preparation for the 3 day teaching
event
with His Holiness the Dalai Lama in Nottingham in May 2008.
Venerable Nyingje's biography: Venerable Nyingje began her studies of buddhism in
1968 at Berkeley High School and started practicing
Tibetan Buddhism in 1979. In 1982, totally inspired
to actualize the teachings she received
from the
great masters living in Dharamsala, India and
to transform the world; she left her life as an
ecologist to devote all her energy to study and practice,
culminating in a 4 year rigorous retreat in Vermont,
USA. In 1998, at the request of her spiritual teacher,
Kyabje Thubten Zopa Rinpoche, she ordained as a
Buddhist nun. She then completed a second 4 year
solitary retreat. Now, she shares her years of
experience while seeking to integrate buddhist
worldview into the greater perspective of healing
our souls and our planet.
