"If
you want others to be happy, practice compassion. If you want to be
happy, practice compassion"...His Holiness the Dalai Lama
To
cultivate the potential for compassion and love inherent within us all,
it is crucial to counteract their opposing forces of anger and hatred.
Using
the popular Buddhist text, "A guide to the Bodhisattva's Way of Life",
learn how to connect with your natural inner source of patience, wisdom
and warmheartedness. During a weekend of teaching, discussion and
meditation, Venerable Amy will present a very practical and refreshing
perspective on overcoming normal stressful living.
All welcome.
Venerable Amy Miller
was born in 1959 on the east coast of the United States. Prior to her
involvement with Tibetan Buddhism, Ven. Amy was a political fundraiser
in Washington, DC and San Francisco, California She first encountered
Tibetan Buddhism in the spring of 1987 during a 10-day course at Kopan
Monastery in Nepal. Since then, she has spent a great deal of time
engaged in meditation retreats, study, teaching, as well as Buddhist
center management and fundraising in India, Nepal and the United States. Venerable
Amy was ordained as a Buddhist nun in June 2000 by the great Tibetan
master, Venerable Choden Rinpoche, and has been teaching more
extensively over the last few years, as per the advice of her teachers.
Her dynamic teaching style emphasizes a very practical approach to
integrating Buddhist philosophy into everyday life.
