What is Karuna Reiki®?
Karuna Reiki is a healing system, very similar to Usui Reiki. It feels like the same family, like a spiritual cousin, but with a definite, distinctive feel to it. It is a natural extension to Usui Reiki, the next logical progression. One leads naturally and effortlessly into the other.
Who can take this class?
Due to the “gloves off” approach of the Karuna Reiki energy, it is recommended that you have already been working with Usui Reiki at Master Level before taking this class. This work initiates healing on deep and fundamental levels and is deeply transformative, so please be prepared for huge changes within yourself. It is recommended for existing Reiki Masters who are already committed to their path of personal healing and spiritual growth, who now feel ready to move to the next level of personal, professional and planetary healing.
How do I use it with others?
In the same way as you use Usui Reiki. The symbols can be used alongside the Usui symbols. They can be mixed and matched and interwoven, bringing in whatever is appropriate for each person in each area and situation. These symbols add a greater depth, focus and potential to your healing work – opening up more possibilities for transformation, particularly where you come across resistance, blocks and reluctance to face painful or deep-seated issues. You will be taught how to work with the symbols, how to do a stand alone Karuna treatment and how to use the incredibly powerful techniques of chanting & toning in your sessions.
How do I Teach It?
On successful completion you will become a registered Karuna Reiki® Master with the International Centre for Reiki Training, and entitled to use the letters “KRM”. You will be able to teach Karuna Reiki® in 3 separate levels (Level I, Level II & Masters) or all levels together with existing Usui Masters as in this course.
“KARUNA” can be translated as compassionate action, or any action that is taken to diminish the suffering of others. Inspirational people like mahatma Gandhi, Mother Teresa and Martin Luther King embodied the quality of Karuna. It is the motivating quality of all enlightened beings who work to end humanity’s suffering. Karuna Reiki® assists us to work more consciously with these enlightened beings, to raise our own vibration and to assist others to a deeper level of self healing and wellbeing. As you develop Karuna in yourself, you are not only being of greater service to others, but you are also more receptive to the Karuna that is being sent by enlightened beings, thus your own healing & growth is quickened.

Elizabeth discovered meditation and began exploring different healing modalities and alternative ways of being in the early 80’s. She took her Reiki Mastership with Laurelle Gaia in the United States in 1996 and is a registered Karuna Reiki® Master/Teacher with the ICRT in America. She has studied with and received attunements from many Masters in the East as well as the West, including teachers from direct Japanese lineages. She has taught and performed attunements in the UK, India, Tibet, America and Indonesia.
